I think we’re quite young when we realize we like girls or we like boys or maybe they both appeal to us. I don’t think it is supposed to be some difficult right of passage to “realize” one’s orientation. There are enough difficult milestones throughout our development. I’m proud of New York. I think we’re still an unfortunate number of years away from the gay/straight segregation being wholly past tense, but seeing kids like this promoted for being themselves (in any aspect) is always encouraging to me.
